Intent

The purpose of Reframe/Resolve is to bring together dedicated and passionate action-oriented therapy and counselling practitioners with various levels of experience, in order to share their stories and insights, explore new ideas and methods of working, address important social or political change that may affect their client work and navigate the practical realities of sustaining a viable, independent practice.

It is believed that through such intimate and in-person sharing the solution-focused therapy community as a whole grows stronger, closer, more thoughtful, and more supportive.

Event Format

Reframe/Resolve is not a conference in the traditional sense. There are no name badges, no tracks, no keynotes, no superstars, no leaders, no pre-ordered corporate lunches, and no product promotion or sponsorship. No one will try to sell you their services nor convince you of anything.

The event uses a structure known as Open Space. The agenda is created on the day by whoever is there, and displayed large on the wall for all to see. Everyone is an equal participant and can choose to do as much or as little as they like. Sessions might be instructor led or open discussion, lecture or workshop, conversational or somatic.

The emergent, self-managing structure of Open Space perfectly mirrors the exact philosophy of the therapies we are exploring: it trusts that the system already has the innate resources to organise and resolve its own needs, without requiring a hierarchical "expert" or manager to direct it. A space-holding facilitator will offer light-touch opening and closing activities, and maintain the framework for the day, but otherwise the system will take care of itself.

Reflection

Periods of reflection will occur throughout the day to share learnings, adjust the agenda, raise (and resolve) concerns, assess value and find ways to improve on the fly. Participants take responsibility to meet their own needs and to serve the group as a whole.

Action-Oriented Therapy

Action-oriented therapy is an umbrella term for practical, present-focused approaches that prioritise real-world change over long-term analysis of a client's past. Instead of spending months unearthing the childhood roots of a problem, these therapies focus on what is happening right now, exploring how altered thinking, immediate mindset shifts (reframes), and new behaviours can disrupt old patterns.

Action-oriented therapy operates on the powerful principle that while insight is valuable, it is actual doing that drives healing and builds momentum. Clients work collaboratively with their therapist to identify practical tools, test out active strategies between sessions, and focus on immediate, tangible solutions to help them move forward constructively today.

Modalities that fall under this umbrella include Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Human Givens, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Hypnotherapy, and Clean Language.

Who is this for?

This event is designed for practitioners across the entire spectrum of action-oriented personal change—from curious trainees to seasoned veterans. We also welcome educators, managers, and anyone deeply fascinated by the mechanics of human behaviour, communication, and systemic change.

"The more you know, the more you know you don't know." — Aristotle

A Note to Coaches

The core of action-oriented therapy—setting goals, moving forward, and meeting innate needs—is already deeply woven into the fabric of coaching. If you use Clean Language, NLP, or any solution-focused techniques in your practice, you belong in this ecosystem. Your stories, insights, and particular perspective on behavioural change are especially welcome in this exchange—so please join us.

Logistics

Breakfast and afternoon tea are provided, with hot and cold drinks available all day. Lunch is your own affair, but with dozens of cafes, restaurants, pubs and supermarkets just a few minutes walk away you'll have plenty of choice, and plenty of time. You are also welcome to bring your own food to eat on the premises.

Due to the health and safety guidelines of the venue, this event is restricted to thirty participants.

Book early to avoid disappointment.
