He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.
— Ecclesiastes 11:4-5
This text cautions us about being over-analytical. If we wait for the conditions to be perfect we'll never sew our crop, and if we don't sow neither shall we reap. There will always be better days than today, so the conditions will never be perfect—or perhaps the conditions are always perfect. What do we know? We cannot see the future, and this is God's world, God's time, not ours. There is much we don't know, and even with all our scientific knowledge, our reductionist analysis we don't truly understand how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child. There is much we can explain, but explanation isn't wisdom. Wisdom requires mystery. Today I feel in awe of all that I do not know, all that is mysterious. Today will be the right day for doing exactly what I find myself doing. It's time to do the next right thing: breakfast, washing up, and walk the children to school.
